On June 20th, at the third edition of the International Cybersecurity Workshop, the Professor Suzanne Rodrigues[Name], will present a lecture on the relationship between empathy and cybersecurity.
In a landscape of increasing technological sophistication, cybersecurity continues to neglect its most crucial dimension: the human one.
This lecture proposes a critical reflection on the role of emotional and behavioral factors in cyber risk management, based on the premise that, behind many incidents, there is an invisible moment of decision—influenced by pressure, urgency, or fear—that escapes traditional technical models.
By integrating perspectives from cybersecurity, behavioral psychology, and organizational culture, the session presents empathy as a strategic competency capable of anticipating vulnerabilities, improving risk communication, and strengthening safer environments.
More than a soft skill, empathy emerges as part of an invisible architecture of safety—one that is built within people.
Because, in the end, the effectiveness of cybersecurity depends not only on the robustness of the systems, but also on the awareness, emotional preparedness, and responsibility of those who use them.
